Use this tool to type in the original writing script of the Filipino people - ᜊᜌ᜔ᜊᜌᜒᜈ᜔!

Update 2010-10-25: You can now type Baybayin/Alibata direct from your keyboard! Simply download the Philippines National Keyboard Layout and type away!

Follow up:

• Just type as you normally do but only in any Philippine language.
• Mapping changes:
  
  • No letters ‘C/c’ and ‘X/x’
  • ‘F/f’ maps to ‘P/p’
  • ‘J/j’ maps to ‘H/h’ - which is the common reading/pronunciation in Filipino (Jose = Hose; John = Huwan; Jesus = Hesus; June = Hunyo; Japan = Hapon)
  • Uppercase ‘N’ maps to Baybayin ‘Nga’ (or just press the keys ‘n’ and ‘g’ - it will change to ‘Nga’ automatically)
  • Lowercase ‘n’ maps to Baybayin ‘Na’
  • ‘Q/q’ maps to ‘K/k’ (eg. Quiapo, it sounds as Ki-ya-po; Quinto = Kin-to; Quezon = Ke-zon)
  • ‘V/v’ maps to ‘B/b’
  • ‘Z/z’ maps to ‘S/s’
• Important note: The genitive/possessive marker ng is an abbreviation of nang [naŋ] and should be written as ‘nang’. You type it this way: n-a-ng (ᜈᜅ᜔). It is NOT equivalent to the character/letter “ng” (ᜅ᜔) as in “m-a-n-o-ng” (ᜋᜈᜓᜅ᜔)
• The plural marker mga is an abbreviation of manga [mɐ’ŋa] and should be written as ‘manga’. It will change automatically if simply typed as ‘mga’.
• To type the Baybayin pause/comma, type ‘|’ (bar/pipe), that is “Shift+\” on your keyboard.

I adjusted this typepad for my personal use initially and so it differs a lot from the original. I also adjusted the Unicode within the official range of U+1700-1714 (including ‘Ra’), and U+1735-1736 (pause/comma, full stop/period respectively).


This Baybayin Typepad was created by marfealsantiago from the orginal program by Monusoft. The font currently in display was created by Nordenx called Baybayin Modern Sinta.
