I was first informed about a real live-action film for the popular anime (not animé) Rurouni Kenshin (るろうに剣心) or Samurai X as it is known in the West, by my colleague Joel Doctor. A few days ago, I found the first trailer of the movie, thanks to Carlo Ople who shared it. Watch it below.
Are you going to watch it? I do. Especially that I am curious as to the storyline, did you notice that Tomoe and Kaoru are both in this movie? It could mean that the movie will either [a] start during the Tokugawa War wherein Kenshin was still Battousai the Slasher of the Restoration camp; or [b] we will see flashbacks, important flashbacks.
I wonder if the movie will cover the period up to the death of Kenshin? Considering how big screen films are, they want romance in there. So this may probably be the “love story” between Kenshin and Kaoru, with plenty of flashback samurai action.
Oh, if you haven’t watched Rurouni Kenshin OVAs, you know those storylines before and after the TV series, you better watch it now.
